In ancient times bathing in rivers was a daily routine. They also had some habits along with it, which is why they lived healthily for a long time. People in ancient times used rivers to develop their civilization and the standard of living.
Take Bath in the river only at dawn. Do not set foot in the river before that (before five o'clock). Do not use soap and shampoo during holy bathing and do not bathe naked in the river. In India, the rivers embraced are also considered feminine. Do not defecate or urinate in the holy rivers. These actions add to the sin and while making the way to goodness.
Instead of jumping into the river, one should first worship the river as a god of sins. Then take the water by hand and spray it on the head three times, then gently soak the feet. Then slowly go into the river and stand facing east and worship the river again and recite this mantra three times.
Gange cha Yamune chaiva Godavari Saraswati |
Narmade Sindhu Kaveri jalesmin sannidhim kuru ||
Then after bathing well and coming to the river bank, doing Vastradanam, Annadanam, Godhanam etc. will give you the benefits of embracing the sins committed in a lifetime. The holy rivers are the livelihood of our country, otherwise, the lives of our people would be lost on this earth. So we will keep our rivers clean.
